Applescal upcoming DJ/producer

"Applescal is a relative newcomer to the Traum family. Based in Holland, and better know to his mum as Pascal Terstappen, he's created an impressively cohesive and entertaining debut album with shades of classic IDM friendly melodies and a well studied grasp of tech-house minimalism that fans of James Holden or Nathan Fake should get to know."

1.The History of Love
2.Nottingham Hobbits
3.Ugly But Nasty
4.In the Mirror
5.Music for Her Ears
6.I Can't Stand (feat. Jord-n)
7.The Forms of Abstract Life
8.How Heroes Die
9.The Red Dress
10.Fink & FC
11.Local Daddys - Sjeesh Up (Applescal Remix)
12.Reeeer

Freestyle

I'm going to tell a little about freestyle rapping.

Freestyle rapping is when you improvise words/rhymes as you go, like when you are listening to some instrumental beats and you just start rapping, and everything you say is improvised.

Freestyles can also be pre-written texts that isn't about any specific subject. But those are not as fun.

Some techniques and rules you should use are:

1. It does not have to make any sense.

2. It doesn't have to rhyme exactly, it just have to sound like it rhymes.

3. Think up two rhymes in your head and then just fill the gaps with words.

4. It does not always have to rhyme, just rap to the rhythm and it will sound OK.

5. Rhyme about what you see around you, about the past, about how you feel.

6. Most important rule! Don't be afraid of what people might think about you.

I will add more if I come up with something.

Here is my fifth beat, use it to practice your freestyle skills if you want

An Apology and An Album

Hello. It's been kind of slow these couple of weeks, or at least I've been. I was supposed to be working on a set. However, as luck would have it I been in contact with a label (Club-A-Club Records), and I've been focusing mainly on production now as a result. With my other full-time job, finding time to put a set together has proven quite difficult. I am sorry about that.

In other news, I stumbled upon this:

http://blackdownsoundboy.blogspot.com/2006/03/soundboy-burial.html

It's an interview with a guy who just put out an album, and he's a genious. Makes his tracks in soundforge, with no sequenser, and you just can't tell. Here's a track from the album

Soulwax & Jus†ice

There isnt many documentaries out there that contains EDM music. There is 2 that got my attention and that is Justice - A cross the Universe and Soulwax - The weekend never dies.

They are really funny to watch and gives you an idea of how it can be as an artist on tour. The documentaries contains alot of cool stuff like Live footage and incidents that occur on the documentarys. Enjoy

Soulwax - The Weekend Never Dies
Soulwax is like three parts, one is the band the other one is the band & Dj and the last one are DJ show. It's kinda hard to explain you'll have to watch it to understand :)

Justice - A Cross The Universe
What can i say about the french Duo except that they are wicked. They are genious behind the decks aswell as producing tracks. They are pure Rock n' Roll as you will see in thier documentary.

Today was a good day

Once again Monday, but this time it was a good day.

Started out with some paperwork for the employment office, and when I was done, I listend to "Ice Cube - It Was a Good Day".

Then I watched some South Park episodes and got reminded that I had to clean out my garage to make room for my car, but I realized I was way too tired, so I returned to listening to music, and I got some ideas and influences from "ill bill" and "necro".

Now I'm formating my computer so I can install FLstudio 8 again, and then I can go on with producing beats.
Meanwhile, I'm playing "Star Wars: The force unleashed" on my Xbox360

Have a great day/night and... oh wait.. I almost forgot!
Here you go, Chilly.C - Beat #4

Making Music Like...

It's All Gone Pete Tong - Trailer

If you haven't already, watch this flick. It is awesome.

On a more serious note, if you ever wanted to start producing, I have a few tips:

1. Learn to love music
2. Learn to love all music
3. Learn to play an instrument, or two, or three
4. Learn music theory
5. Get a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation, like FL or Reason) and read its manual to learn to use it
6. Read this book and then some more, all while searching the internet. Seek and you shall find.
7. Practice.

Ain't going to be any easier ;P

Nathan Fake - Castle Rising
Nathan Fake - The curlew
Nathan Fake - Narrier
Nathan Fake - Fentiger

Video of the song Fentiger which is my favorite
